Overview

Shimmick is seeking an Equipment General Superintendent in Wright, Wyoming. As an Equipment General Superintendent, you’ll be responsible for directing all equipment maintenance activities. This project for the Black Thunder Mine involves contract mining services, selected topsoil stripping and reclamation services at the largest open pit coal mine in North America.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Direct all equipment maintenance activities. Responsible for the implementation of policies and procedures without direct supervision from others.
  • Responsible for the upkeep, repair, and optimal performance of machinery and equipment within a facility or industrial environment.
  • Responsible for work procedures, scheduling, cost control, equipment specification.
  • Lead and enforce mine safety programs, policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with MSHA regulations and applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for MSHA state mine inspectors, and other regulatory agencies; coordinating inspections, address findings, and oversee corrective actions to maintain full compliance.
  • Conformity, establishment of manpower levels and the maintenance of accurate records.
  • Coordinates movement and use of equipment with Equipment Operations and implements company policies and procedures, establishing repair and overhaul practices.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Ten years of equipment supervision experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in construction equipment management.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of MSHA regulatory standards and applicable state and federal mining safety requirements.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures while driving a strong safety culture across teams.

The salary range for this position is between $102,000 - $125,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
