Overview

Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Structures Estimator to be based out of our Suisun City, CA location and play a key role in pursuing and bidding critical infrastructure projects across Northern California.

Northwest Division

Shimmick’s Northwest Division, headquartered in Suisun City, California, focuses on large public owners in Northern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation, and transit markets. In addition, this division was awarded the APWA 2019 Public Works Project Award in the environment category for the Alameda Creek Fish Passage project in California.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Works with the Company estimating systems and processes.
  • Acquire basic level of understanding of estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles for preparing estimates.
  • Recognizes how various processes/project actions and assumptions may impact estimates.
  • Under supervision prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids, etc. for projects.
  • Performs duties with limited complexity, such as material take offs, basic pricing, vendor/subcontractor outreach.
  • Expected to assist in the preparation of larger and more complex estimating assignments

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Heavy Civil structures estimating experience  (water/wastewater treatment, rail/transit, bridge structures, etc).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of project management principles, heavy civil structures construction, and transportation infrastructure design.

Additional Information:

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
  • relocation benefits are not available with this position.

The salary range for this position is between $90,000-$110,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.

These benefits are available to all employees working more than 20 hours per week. Employees working less than 20 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage as well as EAP services.
