Responsibilities

Shimmick Construction is seeking the services of a qualified individuals who can fulfill the role of Commissioning Representative for the Chickamauga Lock Replacement Project.  This project is being performed by Shimmick for the US Army Corps of Engineers (Client) and as such any applicants must be able to pass security and background checks.

 

Commissioning will involve electrical systems, communication systems, instrumentation & control systems, electronic systems, mechanical systems, lock operating machinery systems, architectural systems, and structural systems to deliver a functional lock project for increased upstream and downstream movement of river traffic on the Tennessee River.  Qualifications for any of the systems mentioned will be considered.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The selected Commissioning representative will report to the Commissioning Authority to assist in successful completion of the commissioning process.
  • The Commissioning Representative will work in conjunction with a multi-purpose team, with both Shimmick and subcontractor team members, to ensure all aspects of the systems will properly function as a complete unit.
  • The Commissioning Representative will coordinate completion of the Contractor responsibilities during the execution of the commission process under the oversight of the Commissioning Authority.
  • Additional responsibilities include conduction weekly coordination meetings, planning and scheduling of commissioning activities, providing required submittal documentation, documentation of commissioning progress, correcting deficiencies discovered, coordinating operation and maintenance training, vendor and contractor onsite instruction, and follow up response delivery.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED + 8 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with the coordination of any of the systems described
  • Ability to pass security and background checks required for the project

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous USACE, TVA or Federal contracting experience is a plus.
  • Experience in heavy civil construction projects
  • Current OSHA 10
  • Must be detail oriented, thorough, well organized and effectively manage time
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with a sense of urgency
  • Strong organizational skills – ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Additional Information:

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

The salary range for this position is between $140,000 - 150,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
