Estimator

Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Estimator based out of San Francisco, Suisun City, CA, or remotely within California.  This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the region.

Northwest Division

Shimmick’s Northwest Division focuses on water treatment, water resources, transportation, and transit projects primarily in northern California. The division has delivered projects for a wide range of municipal, state, and private clients, including Bay Area Rapid Transit, Caltrans, Caltrain, the San Francisco Municipal Transit Agency, Sound Transit, U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, the Santa Clara Valley Water District, and the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.

This division has delivered numerous projects to meet California’s water demands. California is home to an extensive network of water conveyance, storage, and other infrastructure that treats and delivers water where it is needed most. Shimmick’s work at the Antioch Desalination Plant and critical improvements at the Richmond Wastewater Treatment Plant are helping California meet its water needs.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Reviews and interprets project drawings, specifications, contracts and owner provided documents.
• Develops detailed material take-offs for estimate development and procurement of bulk materials.
• Understands construction means, methods, and sequencing.
• Understands how various constraints may impact the estimate.
• Analyzes and incorporates historical data into production factors.
• Prepares scope and bid package breakdowns for trade partners
• Communicates with trade partners to ensure correct scope and cost.
• Assists with post-bid subcontracts and material contracts.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous heavy civil construction experience
• Experience on water / wastewater / transit / transportation projects
• Knowledge of inEight (or similar) estimating software
• Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail
• Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks
• Highly organized with excellent time management skills
• Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills

The salary range for this position is between $105,000.00 - 145,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
