Overview

Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Safety Technician based out of various job sites in Orange County, California.  This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the city. This role will assist with multiple projects based out of Orange County and will require travel to various job sites. They will primarily assisting with administatrative functions to support the projects. This role is not scheduled to begin work until late May or early June, after Memorial Day weekend.

Southwest Division

 

Shimmick’s Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility in San Diego at the $200 million Groundwater Replenishment System in Orange County.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Under general supervision, demonstrates the ability to perform assigned duties and is knowledgeable of the significance of these duties.
  • Performs moderately complex technical work utilizing instructions, drawings, sketches and results from computer systems and schematics.
  • May be involved in training and supervising technical personnel.
  • May perform some data entry, utilizing CRT terminals and/or keypunch.
  • May be required to pass professional test.
  • Must obtain BCSP STS-C Certificate within 18 months of employment.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid Driver's License is required
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders while maintaining three points of contact
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs max.
  • Stand 8+ hours/day
  • Crouch, bend at waist and kneel
  • Reach in all directions with one or both arms/hands
  • Must obtain BCSP STS-C Certificate within 18 months of employment. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30
  • Familiar with requirements of and experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance
  • Computer/Software proficiency with Microsoft Office proficiency required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of CAL-OSHA and federal OSHA regulations
  • Satisfactory safety record as Safety Representative

The salary range for this position is between $25.00-28.00 per hour depending on experience and/or education.
