Office Engineer

Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Office Engineer  to be based out of San Diego, CA.  This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the city.

Southwest Division

Shimmick’s Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation, and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $828 million Gerald Desmond Bridge, the first cable-stayed vehicular bridge in California.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Under general supervision, performs routine duties.
• Displays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications.
• Displays applications of sound professional judgment on details of work.
• Independently performs walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design.
• Performs quantity surveys for tracking and reporting.
• May provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working on Heavy Civil Construction experience

• The salary range for this position is between $93,500 to $110,000 depending on experience and/or education.
